- relief of tension headaches, eye-strain, earache, tinnitus jaw ache, sinusitis congestion, insomnia general relation of the whole person
- On a mental level the benefits that may be experienced include:
- a release of anxiety
- a sense of calmness peace and tranquillity
- clearer thinking and higher level of concentration
- easing of mental tiredness, depression, stress
On a subtle level the therapy helps the balancing of chakra energy and releases stagnant energy which, in turn, boosts available energy on all levels. Indian Champissage (Head Massage) was developed by the late Narendra Mehta and introduced in this country in 1981. In India children are massaged from birth, it is a normal part of Indian family life, and head massage has been practised for over a thousand years. In addition to the women practising head massage in the home a massage is a usual part of a visit to the barbers for men. When Narendra came to England he found that massage stopped at the neck so he returned to India to study all the different techniques passed down through the generations, and as a result, he developed Champissage.
What does an Indian Champissage treatment involve?
At an initial consultation we will take some details and discuss any health issues, taking note of areas which may benefit from the treatment as well as ensuring there are no contraindications to the therapy. The client remains fully clothed and is asked to remove any necklaces/earrings and sit on a chair or stool. The treatment follows a set pattern of working on the shoulders, upper arms, neck, head (scalp) and the face. After the treatment the client is given some water to drink.
We will note any changes in how you feel and discuss any further sessions, as required.
How many Indian Champissage treatments will I need?
There is no definitive answer to this question, it all depends on the symptoms presented and the individual’s response to the treatment. Some people will come just to enjoy the therapy as relaxation and mild stress relief and have a session when and as they feel appropriate. However, if the client has any particular issues that will benefit from the therapy we may discuss some weekly sessions (the number can vary) and then as the symptoms improve we allow more time between.
As we are all individuals with different issues and we respond differently to the therapy/treatment we will discuss further sessions (if required) to suit, accordingly.
